The news from TV and newspapers help us to be reminded that the coronavirus pandemic is serious business. What is sometimes overlooked is how it is affecting us locally. In the ten days from July 10-20 there have been at least 240 new cases in Putnam and our five surrounding counties.
Putnam County with 37 new cases had a 47% increase in cases in these ten days. Only Lincoln County’s 11 new cases surpassed Putnam in percentage increase. The increase in total new cases for the whole state of West Virginia was 29% for the same period.
So please take every precaution and do not add to the coronavirus numbers. It has been shown that social distancing and the wearing of masks makes a difference. West Virginia Counties that are the most isolated have the fewest cases.
A good word for the day:
My soul finds rest in God alone;
My salvation comes from Him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
O Wisdom on High, by You the meek are guided in judgment,
and light rises up in darkness for the godly.
Grant us, in all doubts and uncertainties,
the grace to ask what You would have us do,
that we may be saved from all false choices,
and that in Your light,
and in Your straight path may not stumble;
through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
