Have you ever thought about the message Lloyd C. Douglas put in his first book, “One Increasing Purpose”?  He suggests that the happiness for which many are desperately seeking might come to them if they would forget themselves and begin seeking the happiness of others.

That is surely the message Jesus brought to earth and it has always been the message of Christ’s Church.  Look around you today and see that truth borne out in the happiest people you know.

Perhaps one of our prayers today should be Edward McHugh’s radio theme song of yesteryear:
If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in mine own willful way,
Dear Lord, forgive — forgive.  Amen.
