Thought for the day:
“Mercy imitates God and disappoints Satan.”  –St. John Chrysostom

A Word of God for the people of God:
“Too long have I lived
among those who hate peace.
I am a man of peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.”  (Psalm 120:6-7)

Gracious and loving God, your children are hurting and frightened.  A virus has spread across the world, but it continues to rage from place to place and ravage every where it goes.  Help us to make good decisions that we may be part of the healing and not the problem; that we may be careful where we go taking precautions to keep others and ourselves safe.  We ask for Your grace and mercy.

Now we see, because of a senseless act of violence, turmoil exists across the land.  Please, dear Lord, in your mercy heal our land of hate and unrest.  Remind us that we are the beloved children of the most High God.

Lord, in your mercy, hear the cry of your children, the cry of your beloved world.  Amen.
