Exploring Disaffiliation from the UMC

With the approval of the Administrative Council, we will begin to explore

the possibility of disaffiliation from the UMC.

We want to be Prayerful, Knowledgeable, and especially loving in this process going forward.

All we ask is to listen to the information, be observant about what is going on

around you and in the UMC outside of your local Church.

This won’t be easy. Positive and negative thoughts alike will run through your mind.

Remember; Stay on point, be prayerful, read and listen to everything you can

and give yourself time of discernment.

Then when the time comes, you will be sure how you will want to move forward.

Remember we want to be a Church that Honors God in everything we do.

The Father tells us that we cannot honor Him unless we honor His Son,

Jesus Christ (John 5:22–23). Therefore, it is impossible for us to honor God

unless and until we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

The Bible – “The trustworthiness of the Scriptures lies at the foundation of trust in the Christian system of doctrine, is therefore fundamental to the Christian hope and life.” These words from Benjamin B. Warfield highlight just how important the doctrine of inerrancy is for the church. Abandon it, and the entire Christian system of doctrine now rests on a shaky foundation.

It is out of the diversity and distinctive separateness of male and female that we humans are called to not only reflect the image and likeness of God, but we also represent God in the stewardship of His good and wonderful creation (Genesis 1:28-29). Male and female also reflect God as they come together in unity in marriage and are joined as “one flesh” (see Genesis 2:23-24; Matthew 19: 3-6; Mark 10: 6-9; Ephesians 5:28-32). This coming together as one flesh is unique, in that the sexual union brings forth new life that will also somehow look like God and bear the imago Dei. As we are “fruitful and multiply and fill the earth,” we spread God’s image around the world (Genesis 1:28).

As it was from the beginning, so it is to this very day.
